Coldest Capital Cities of the World

The coldest capital city in the world is not in Canada or in Northern Europe but in Mongolia; its Ulaanbaatar, with a chilly average annual temperature of 29.7 °F (-1.3 °C). How to Determine the Coldest Cities Southern capital cities just dont reach far enough south to get very cold. For instance, if you think about the southernmost capital in the world -- Wellington, New Zealand - images of ice and snow are probably far from your mind. Thus, the answer had to lie in the higher latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. Searching WorldClimate.com for the annual mean of the daily (24-hour) temperature for each capital city in that area, one can find which cities are, in general, the coldest. A List of the Coldest Cities Interestingly, Ottawa, considered an extremely cold city in North America, had an average of only 41.9 °F/5.5 °C—meaning it wasnt even in the top five! Its number seven. Also interesting is that the northernmost capital city in the world—Reykjavik, Iceland—is not number one; it falls in the list at number five. Good data for the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, just doesnt exist, but it would appear from nearby climate data and other sources of information that Astana falls between number one (Ulaanbaatar) and number three (Moscow). Heres the list, starting with the coldest. Ulaan-Baatar (Mongolia) 29.7 °F/-1.3 °C Ulaanbaatar  is  the largest city of Mongolia as well as its capital and is a destination for both business and pleasure trips. It is below zero for five months of the year. January and February are the coldest months with the temperature ranging  between -15 °C and -40 °C. The average annual temperature is -1.3 °C. Astana (Kazakhstan) (Data Unavailable) Astana is one of the strangest cities that exists, with tall futuristic-looking buildings made of shiny metal and glass rising abruptly out of the flat steppe landscape on the banks of Ishim River. It is the second largest city in Kazakhstan. Astana means the capital city in Kazakh. It was designated the capital city in 1997 and the previous name was changed to Astana in 1998. The climate is extreme. Summers can be very warm, with temperatures occasionally reaching 35 °C (95 °F) while winter temperatures can fall to -35 °C (-22 to-31 °F) between mid-December and early March. Moscow (Russia) 39.4 °F/4.1 °C Moscow is the capital of Russia and the largest city on the European continent.  It is situated on the  Moskva River. It has  the largest forest area within its borders of any other major city and is  well-known for its many parks and distinctive architecture. The winters in Moscow are long and cold, lasting from the middle of November until the end of March, with winter temperatures varying widely from -25 °C (-13 °F) in the city, and even colder in the suburbs, to above 5 °C (41 °F). In the summer the temperature ranges from 10 to 35 °C (50 to 95 °F). Helsinki (Finland) 40.1 °F/4.5 °C Helsinki is both the capital and largest city of Finland, situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland on the tip of a peninsula and on 315 islands. The average winter temperature in January and February is -5 °C (23 °F). Given Helsinkis northern latitude one would normally expect colder winter temperatures, but the Baltic Sea and North Atlantic Current have a mitigating effect on the temperatures, keeping them somewhat warmer in the winter, and cooler during the day in the summer. Reykjavik (Iceland) 40.3 °F/4.6 °C Reykjavik is Icelands capital and largest city. It is located in southwestern Iceland on the shore of Faxa Bay and is the worlds northernmost capital of a sovereign state. Like Helsinki, temperatures in Reykjavik are affected by the North Atlantic Current, an extension of the Gulf Stream. The temperatures are warmer in the winter than would be expected by the latitude, rarely falling below -15 °C (5 °F), and the summers are cooler, with temperatures generally ranging between 10 and 15 °C (50 and 59 °F). Tallinn  (Estonia) 40.6 °F/4.8 °C Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It is located at the northernmost part of Estonia on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. It was first established in medieval times but is now a mix of ancient and modern. It has the distinction of being dubbed the Silicon Valley of Europe and has the highest number of startups per person in Europe. Skype, for example, got its start there. Due to its location on the coast and mitigating effect of the sea, the winters are cold but warmer than one would expect for the latitude. February is the coldest month, with the average temperature being -4.3 °C (24.3 °F). Throughout the winter, temperatures are close to freezing. Summers are comfortable with temperatures during the day between 19 and 21 °C (66 to 70 °F). Ottawa (Canada) 41.9 °F/5.5 °C In addition to being its capital, Ottawa is the fourth largest city in Canada, most educated, and has the highest standard of living in Canada. It is in southern Ontario on the Ottawa River.  Winters are snowy and cold, with an average January minimum temperature of -14.4 °C (6.1 °F), while summers are warm and humid, with an average July maximum temperature of 26.6 °C (80 °F).

John Smith, Anne Bradstreet And Thomas Jefferson - 1769 Words

During the early formation of our nation, many great authors were putting their thoughts and feelings down on paper. These early American writers were the foundation upon which the literary culture of America was founded. Among these are the early writings of John Smith, Anne Bradstreet and Thomas Jefferson. Their writings were completed during a time of exploration and colonization characterized by many historical political and cultural transitions, and their literature accurately describes the events of that period. The literary works of these important authors convey the hardships that they experienced in a new land, as well as the evolution of the government and culture. John Smith John Smith, from book 3, chapter 2 of his book, The Generall Historie of Virginia, New-England, and the Summer Isles, wrote about his adventures in the new land of the Indians where he experienced new people, a new governance system and a new culture (Smith, The Generall Historie of Virginia, New England the Summer Isles 43). Smith, who was an English soldier, explorer and author, ventured into a new and unfamiliar territory where he experienced many unknown and unusual conditions and his writings depict his initial experience with the natives of this new and hostile land. He referred to the indigenous people as â€Å"savages† based on their hostile nature and brutal behavior towards him and his men. Working with the Metropolitan Hospital as an Anesthesiologist Case Study

Essays on Working with the Metropolitan Hospital as an Anesthesiologist Case Study The paper "Working with the Metropolitan Hospital as an Anesthesiologist" is a perfect example of a case study on nursing. In this case, while working with the metropolitan hospital as an anesthesiologist, there was a dilemma. First, the client appeared in the hospital and demanded a female anesthesiologist who was provided. She was given the name of the person who was to carry out the operation and noticed that the anesthesiologist was a Black America woman. The patient did not want to be attended by the Black American woman and demand a change. The patient demanded a White American. At the time the customer was demanding it was too early and it was possible to contact the lawyer or the ethical board. The case involves two judgments that could have taken place in order to solve the situation. The first decision was to make an immediate arrangement for the White American anesthesiologist. The second decision was to ask the patient to accept to be treated by African Americans or seek services from another hospital.Strength and WeaknessThe case had a number of weaknesses and strengths. The hospital had some strengths and also a weakness as well as the patient. The hospital provides high-quality services to the customers and many people like to receive the services from the hospital. This strength enables the hospital to receive more patients in a day. The patient had complained but had confidence in the quality of services. It was easy to convince the patient to accept the treatment from the African American woman because the hospital had not experienced cases of poor treatment. The hospital also had more facilities and more doctors who provide care. Also, in this case, the patient refused to accept the African American anesthesiologist. The patient refused the anesthesiologist at the last minute and it was easy to find a person from the counseling department to provide advice on the benefits of being attended by an African America. On the side of weakness, there were more issues in the case. First, the patient demanded change while it was too late. The hospital had organized for a black American woman to carry out the operation and planned for the day's activities. The hospital works with hours and shifts and already the duty roster had been prepared. It was inconvenient to tamper with the duty roster and find a White American to attend the patient to replace the Black American woman. The patient also noticed the name of the anesthesiologist and demanded a change at 7 am, and it was too early to contact the hospital ethical board and the lawyer in order to make an appropriate decision.Opinion and ReasonThe opinion to consider in this case is to advise the patient accordingly. The customer had issues of discrimination. The right decision is to advise the patient about medical treatments and medical professionals in order to accept the anesthesiologist. The reason beyond the opinion is that it was more complicated to change the entire system and search for a White American. Advising the patient will help in saving the hospital time and cost because it was necessary to compensate the white American anesthesiologist after the change.

Difference Between Distributive and Integrative Bargaining Sample Essay Example For Students

Difference Between Distributive and Integrative Bargaining Sample Essay 1 ) The difference between distributive and integrative bargaining Negotiation attacks are by and large described as either distributive or integrative. At the bosom of each scheme is a measuring of struggle between each party’s desired outcomes. See the undermentioned state of affairs. Chris. an enterpriser. is get downing a new concern that will busy most of his free clip for the close hereafter. Populating in a fancy new development. Chris is concerned that his new concern will forestall him from taking attention of his lawn. which has strict demands under vicinity regulations. Not desiring to upset his neighbours. Chris decides to engage Matt to cut his grass. In a distributive bargaining attack. each negotiator’s aim is in direct struggle with the other. Looking at our state of affairs. each party is concerned about the concluding monetary value and has a limited figure of resources. In get downing a new concern. Matt’s hard currency flow is low and there is bound on what he will pass for the service. On the other manus. Chris wants to guarantee a high fee but besides warrant he will non lose money after purchasing gas for his lawnmower. The end in distributive bargaining is non to happen a reciprocally accepted result. but instead that one side additions discriminatory intervention. In other words. the concluding consequence is a win-lose scenario. In distributive bargaining. each party must make up ones mind before the dialogue where certain breakpoints lie. For Chris. possibly he can non afford more than $ 20 for the service. but is willing to pay $ 15. Conversely. Matt can non accept less than $ 12. but would prefer $ 18. The spread between the opposition points. $ 12- $ 20. specify the bargaining scope and where a colony is likely to happen. If the opposition points did non overlap. a dialogue would non be possible. As the dialogue occurs. the challenge will be in detecting and act uponing each other’s opposition point. Conversely. see that while run intoing to discourse a monetary value. both parties realize there are different involvements at interest. Chris’ precedence is a low monetary value while Matt prefers a longer contract. In this instance. negotiants may so utilize an integrative bargaining scheme where each side can accomplish their aim. In other words. the concluding consequence is a win-win scenario. This attack requires a basically different procedure. First. negotiants who take an integrative attack position a dialogue as job work outing instead than adversarial. The measuring of success is non whether one party is making better. instead is the overall aims met. The challenge to integrative bargaining is guaranting a free flow of information. so each party understands the overall aims. and keeping a high degree of trust. 2 ) Common perceptual experience mistakes and how they affect negotiation Negotiations are a really societal experience and participates enter into treatments guided by their perceptual experiences. These can be derived from pervious experiences. relationships or the physical or mental environment and can impact the success of a dialogue. Often times. perceptual experience is non a deliberative procedure. but is done at a cognitive degree. There are four major perceptual mistakes negotiants make: stereotyping. halo-effect. selective perceptual experience and pr ojection. Negotiators should be cognizant of these mistakes and be prepared to discourse the negative facets of their effects. Pigeonholing seems like a dated pattern in today’s universe. but it is a common mistake and negotiants should be concerned with its impact. The pattern of pigeonholing occurs when an single assigns attributes to another entirely on the footing of the other’s rank in a peculiar societal or demographic class. Using the lawn mower illustration. see if Matt has a preconceived impression that those who own their ain concern have tonss of money and. as a consequence. he expects a higher fee. That stereotype will impact the bargaining scope and could ensue in an deadlock. where neither party reaches wins. Halo-effect is another factor that could impact dialogues and is similar to pigeonholing. In this mistake. a negotiator positions another party through a narrow lens of one property. As a consequence. this one property acts like a screen. maintaining the negotiant from accurately sing multiple traits. For illustration. our entrepreneur Chris may hold observed that Matt does a hapless occupation paring shrubs. .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .postImageUrl , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:hover , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:visited , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:active { border:0!important; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:active , .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452 .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf563c19f1ede406fece8967842329452:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Romeo And Juliet (820 words) EssayConsequently. observation could overrule other considerations that might hold more relevancy to the occupation at manus. Another perceptual mistake is selective perceptual experience. which describes how we categorize and interpret information in a manner that favors one class or reading over another. There are a assortment of grounds why persons are susceptible to selective perceptual experience. but it stems from a person’s anterior experiences – associating known information to the current circumstance. Selective perceptual experience normally perpetuates stereotypes and halo-effect. The concluding mistake is projection. w here an individual’s current emotional province tends to act upon the perceptual experience of others. It is by and large a defence mechanism intended to protect an individual’s self-concept. For illustration. if Chris antecedently had person who ill cut his lawn and Matt looked like him. Chris may see Matt’s services unwanted. 3 ) The challenges that come from multiparty dialogues Multiparty dialogues occur when more than two parties are working together to accomplish an aim. Overall. increasing the figure of negotiants creates complexness and multiple precedences and positions must be considered. The multiparty dialogue can happen frequently in the work environment where parties from assorted concern units run into to work out overlapping jobs. As a consequence. there are several challenges a dialogue must get the better of. Overall. the job lies in pull offing relationships in the group. First. a characteristic of multiparty dialogues is that parties will frequently organize alliances. This can be split into two types of groups. those who form to make a victorious side and those who create barricading alliances. The creative activity of a victorious alliance signifiers when parties agree to fall in forces to do an advantageous understanding for the members. Alternatively. a alliance can organize to make a protective stance against agreements that may endanger the group. Another challenge in a multiparty dialogue is the group interaction. Because the figure or parties increased. there are a figure of new force per unit areas on the group dynamic and new involvements and perceptual experiences need to be aligned. Persons besides have less power to command the dialogue. In a bilateral dialogue. when parties reach an deadlock either one can merely walk off from the tabular array. However. in a multiparty treatment. it is much more hard. If one party were to halt dialogue it is really likely the dialogue will go on without them. Additionally. the procedural regulations become less clear. It takes much longer to finish the dialogue and negotiants will necessitate to pass considerable clip discoursing how to pull off the procedure. Additionally. the importance of determination regulations grows in importance. In a multiparty dialogue. the failure to set up determination regulations at the beginning can do consensus constructing much more hard. In a bilateral dialogue. the determination regulation is merely that each party comes to an understanding. By adding parties. a clearer determination model demands to be created. This includes treatments on how determinations should be made. whether it is consensus. unanimity or bulk ruled. Finally. the add-on of parties makes the assemblage and sharing of information much more hard. Negotiations need to be flexible plenty to let new information into a treatment. However. by incr easing the size of a group. the sum of new information grows. This makes is disputing to develop originative surrogates to solutions and run into participate aims. Love In Midsummer Nights Dream Essay Example For Students

Love In Midsummer Nights Dream Essay Love In Midsummer Nights DreamLove is something that will never be defined. No one knows what love is. When Egeus describes it as being ?feign?, and ?cunning?, he is, for the most part, corredt. Love can sneak on a person, or a person can sneak up on it. I can back the former from personal experience. Love can be truly cunning, and when it is, it hurts. For example, Hermia and Lysander have to make plans to elope because otherwise they cannot be together because of her father, Theseus. Theseus wants her to marry Demetrius because Theseus likes him better. This makes the love that Lysander and Hermia have for each other hurt more than love already should, and then puts them in danger when they decide to elope. Thus, love can be a problem. If Lysander won, then he and Hermia would no longer have to worry about him, and they could be wed. In this however, there is a problem in the solution. Love is one of those things where there is no real Gray Area. Many people know if they are or if they arent. Its something that just comes. Often at the wrong times, like when it is not returned. Love can be a blessing, though, when it is returned, and can lead to many years of joy and prosperity, as long as the love is respected. Often times though, love is deceitful, and can stop on a dime. There is no solution for that.
